First Day of School...

I cannot believe my Maxi is going to kindergarten and Charlie is going into 3rd grade....I feel like just yesterday, I was rocking them and giving them their pacis...it has been alot different this go around....I guess it is because Max was SO PUMPED to go to school...his best buddy is in his class and he got his favorite, Mrs. Evans (Charlie's kindergarten teacher)...so, he could not wait to get there this morning. Charlie set his alarm (couldn't talk him out of it) for 6:00...both boys popped out of bed and were sitting on ready...they ate, got dressed, straightened their beds, and were waiting to hit the road. We took Max to his class first so we could all share in his time and get a family picture...he went in and he 'never looked back'...he went around the tables, found his name and sat down and started coloring....nothing but smiles. That is a good feeling for a mommy, but it still brings a lump to your throat as you walk away that first day. I prayed over both boys all morning and on the way to school we prayed for their protection in every way, so I am feeling good about a fresh start and a new year:)
Here are the boys waiting on the rest of us to 'hurry up and get ready'...

Here we are walking a mile to get to school...it was packed...we looked like a little family of ducks...

Here are Max and his bud, Cade with the wonderful, Mrs. Evans...

Our 'first day of kindergarten', family photo...

We dropped Charlie off last, so everyone was already in there (I did get one picture, but it was a more distant shot, so I am not going to post it) and I am very sad to say, he wasn't his usually 'kissy' self...he is so brave and strong....we made our goodbyes short and sweet and that about put me over the edge...being a mommy is hard. It is hard to let go and it is hard to trust that the job we have done will be enough, but he and Max are in God's hands and that is so much more than what I could ever do in and of myself...can't wait to hear all about the big day this afternoon...

Now I am off for a little girl time, just me and LuLu...

  2. I was just doing a little blog surfing when I happened across yours! We have a daughter Lucy and also a daughter from China. We are in the process of a second adoption and started a blog recently. I have really enjoyed seeing all the different adopting blogs! Our China trip was awesome!! I would love to share about it with you if you are interested. We would love to go back!! I hope we will be able to when our daughter is older. She is only 4 now. I will enjoy following your journey to your beautiful Chinese daughter.
