1. Chen Ancestral Hall (we were the sideshow..haha)
2. Chen Ancestral Hall (Hua Hua was a little grumpy today)
3. seeing the sights
4. at the park-Five Rams statue
5. Charlie's thoughts on sightseeing and getting his picture made with dozens of people today because he's a 'star'....not too happy
6. Joanna was our guide today...
7. we paid the price for staying up late last night...no smiles
8. doing a little shoe shopping:)
9. the opening of the Asian Games were tonight...it is beautiful & a little crazy
We had a great day today...lots of free time because the island closed due to the opening of the Games-took our laundry to get done and did some shopping...I am getting a little homesick for my babies...miss my snuggles...this afternoon was a bit trying, she is getting comfortable and she is starting to act like a 2 year old:)...it is really difficult that we can't understand each other. The only words I know in Hakkanese are 'no', 'potty' and 'go to bed'....you can only get so far with that. I have been a little emotional...just really missing home all of a sudden. Pray for us to enjoy this last week or so and to take everything in while we can. It is the trip of a lifetime....pray for Lucy and Max that they will just have fun...they seem to be so far. thanks again for all of the comments, messages, emails, skypes and prayers...it would be so much harder without all of them..hugs....
Oh, so familiar sites! I loved Chen's Lineage Hall... I bought Mia a teaset there. The pictures are great. I know the homesickness is starting to set in. I know... I so, so know. It seems like an eternity until you are allowed to leave and I knew things would be better once we could get home and resume some form of normalcy. These may be Alice's last days in China, so just focus on that. You are doing great. :)
ReplyDeleteLove,
Ashley
What a treat to wake up this morning and see all of these pictures!!! Your blog is the first thing I'm checking when I get up these days :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got to go see the orphanage. I think this is so important for so many reasons and it will really be helpful for Alice as she grows up...to have these pictures. I remember that being a VERY emotionally draining day, but one I was so glad we did.
Still praying...
Erica
P.S. Will you give Rebecca a hug from the Hammond family??!!
I think the little grumpy faces are adorable! I know it must be difficult though. I'm sure that yesterday must have left you all exhausted physically and emotionally. I'm praying for a restful night of sleep for everyone so that you can enjoy the rest of your trip. You will all be together again very soon for a joyful Thanksgiving and Christmas. Oh the things you will have to celebrate!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, WOW! The shoes. That looks like fun!
You busy lady you! You took a different route to the orphanage than we did and I am glad you did! We were not on a road most of our trip! A lot of the scenery was pretty! Glad you got to go upstairs as they didn't let us. You are doing so well and we know that your days will continue to be blessed with new discoveries. Enjoy! Hugs --- Ann
ReplyDeletePraying for you Jennifer...we love you. Great pics..and some familiar ones. That one at the park by the 5 Rams statue is right by our hotel. We went to the Chen Hall, too. Sooo weird to see you all there..wish we'd been able to go together! Get as much rest as you can now while there...and enjoy the remaining days. We miss you greatly and can't wait to see you all on the 21st. Remember, He is El Roi. He sees you and He knows. He is upholding you with His righteous right hand; singing over you with His great love for you, your family and especially Hua Hua. much love,Stephanie
